"Girl Power" Performed by Carole King at the U.S. Open

FLUSHING, NY - The USTA announced that the Women's Singles Tennis Final of the 2007 U.S. Open featured Grammy award winning performer and songwriter Carole King on Saturday, September 8, 2007. The legendary artist sang "God Bless America" to open the prime time women's final. She was accompanied by the Songs of Solomon Inspirational Ensemble. The Songs of Solomon was founded in 2001 as an answer to young people from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds who desired to express their artistic self through all forms of inspirational music.

In a special performance for the stadium audience only, King also sang "I Feel the Earth Move" and a previously unreleased original song "Girl Power."

Considered one of the most successful female songwriters in pop music history, King's latest release, a DVD of The Living Room Tour, titled "Welcome to My Living Room" will be released on October 23rd, by King's own independent record label, Rockingale Records.

The Women's Singles Tennis Final was broadcast live on CBS in prime time for the sixth consecutive year, at 8:00pm Eastern Time.
